Grandview Springtime Wedding

Tara and Tommy’s Grandview springtime wedding was a refined yet relaxed celebration with Hudson Valley charm.

There are wedding days that feel like a gathering of loved ones, and then there are wedding days that feel like a true homecoming. Tara and Tommy’s wedding at The Grandview was that and so much more. An unforgettable blend of heartfelt moments, warmth, and the lively kind of celebration that brings everyone to the dance floor.

The Couple

Tara and Tommy are high school sweethearts.  Tommy was best friends with Tara’s twin brother as they were growing up, so they’ve always been a part of each other’s lives. Tara is a teacher, and getting to know her as their photographer was a joy. She planned her wedding day with the same thoughtfulness and calm that she brings to her classroom.  There’s a unique patience and kindness that teachers possess, and she radiated that steady, joyful spirit her entire wedding day.

The Venue

The Grandview is an award winning venue situated on the edge of the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, NY. It offered a picture-perfect setting for their wedding day, with its sweeping views and elegant spaces. Tara and Tommy’s ceremony was held outdoors, adjacent to the Grand Ballroom, under the elegant pergola. When I was heading to the Grandview at the beginning of the day, it was drizzling. I really hoped the skies would clear since Tara and Tommy’s engagement session was photographed in the rain and while it was very romantic, they wanted an outdoor ceremony. By the time we were ready for first look, the skies had cleared and the sun was showing off! Tara’s first look with her dad was one I will never forget. After he looked at her in her stunning Lambs Hill gown, he exclaimed “this is the happiest day of my life!” Following that emotional moment, Tara and Tommy shared their first look along the waterfront of the Hudson River and Tommy couldn’t contain his excitement in seeing Tara!

Both Tara and Tommy proudly embrace their Irish roots, and their wedding beautifully honored that heritage. The day was threaded with nods to tradition, complete with a bagpiper at their ceremony. Their families brought with them that unmistakable Irish warmth: the kind that makes you feel like you’ve known everyone your whole life, even if you just met. As a photographer who values true-to-color imagery and authentic moments, I was drawn to the way their personalities shaped every part of the day: warm, welcoming, and naturally sophisticated.

One of the most touching parts of Tara and Tommy’s wedding was just how many guests traveled from out of town to be there. Friends, extended family, and childhood connections. People came from across states, and even a few from Ireland traveled to celebrate this couple. You could feel the appreciation in every conversation, every hug, every joyful cheer during the speeches. By the time everyone moved into the reception, the atmosphere was electric.

The Reception

It was clear: Tara and Tommy have built a life full of meaningful relationships, and their wedding was a testament to that. And once the music got going? Let’s just say the dance floor filled quickly. There’s something about a big Irish family celebration: joyful, a little wild, and absolutely contagious! I would know, being Irish myself! The energy transformed the reception into a true party. Their guests did not disappoint!

Tara and Tommy’s wedding wasn’t just a day; it was a celebration of two people whose love is rooted in family, heritage, joy, and genuine kindness. Surrounded by loved ones from all over, they began this new chapter exactly as they should: hand in hand, smiling, and ready for whatever comes next. Here’s to Tara and Tommy, may your marriage be filled with the same warmth, love, and laughter that filled your beautiful day at The Grandview. Sláinte!

Kind words from Tara & Tommy:

Debbie was incredible to have as part of our wedding day! From our first call, to my endless emails with questions, engagement session and finally our big day, Debbie has been fantastic. She always answered every email promptly, gave great suggestions, and was so helpful. Our package with Debbie came with an engagement session and it poured that day. She was out in the rain with us capturing all the sweet moments. She made us feel so comfortable. Debbie ensured that our wedding day was so smooth and delivered the most stunning photos !! 10/10 recommend Debbie !!
